Lost Merritt snowmobiler found

Searchers have found a missing Merritt snowmobiler safe and sound.

At 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Merritt RCMP received a report of and
overdue snowmobiler at Elkhart lodge off of highway 97C. The53-year-old man who was familiar with the areahad been headed to Osprey Lake
in the Princeton area and failed to arrive at the given time.

Nicola
Valley Search and Rescue with members of the Merritt snowmobile club
attended at Elkhart lodge just after midnight to begin a search.

The
male was located shortly after 3 a.m. by searchers walking along a
trail. It was learned that he had crashed his snowmobile en route and
had been walking back towards Elkhart for several hours.

The man was
in good medical condition and was returned home safe and sound.

Merritt
RCMP remind everyone that when travelling alone or in the back woods
you should always let someone know where you are going and when you
arrive so that it is easier to locate you faster and assists the
searchers in knowing where to search if anything should go wrong.
