Re: “Lotto fairness in doubt,” May 30
A couple of years back I turned over my lottery ticket at an outlet in a food-store on 152nd street.
When I got the “sorry not a winner” remark from the woman behind the counter, something in her manner made me question it. As there was someone next in line I left ... feeling a bit foolish for not having challenged her. Then I thought how easy it would be for her to keep a winning ticket ... and how tempting.
I wrote down my impressions and sent them off to the (B.C.) Lottery Corp. but received no acknowledgement. Perhaps the attitude at the headoffice is, “Hey, the odds against winning are so overwhelming why bother about a few more?”
