It’s scratch-, shock-, weather-resistant, and pure genius
The Louis Ghost chair designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell of Italy has become, in my opinion, the single most important piece of furniture of the decade. The amalgamation of Starck’s ingenuity and Kartell’s innovative furniture technology has made this chair an all time favourite amongst interior designers.
Starck has appropriated a Louis XV chair and brought it into the 21st century. The manufacturer, Kartell produces this piece out of one single mould of polycarbonate, and has managed to offer a product that is shock-, scratch- and even weather-resistant. The most popular version is “crystal” colour being the clear natural version of polycarbonate hence the name “Ghost.” Other options are available in transparent colours ranging from orange all the way to blue. Kartell also offers two versions of solid matt colours in both black and white. For extra convenience and storage, the chair can also be stacked six high.
The Louis Ghost has been sat on by hordes of celebs at private galas as well as it can be seen all over the globe in a variety of high fashion store windows but aside from its own celebrity, the chair is a great tool for adding elegance and irony into any room setting. Louis Ghost, in matt black or crystal, will add incredible flair to any art deco table or even an antique harvest table. The addition of such a chair is entirely unexpected yet incredibly comfortable at the best of settings. It will make a great statement in any small space for the chair is smaller in scale but high in impact when it comes to design.
Go ahead have some fun, and don’t worry about the kids or the dog. This is a chair that has all the elements of function, practicality and design.
