Luxury hybrid set to prowl city streets

It’s proof that being green can be luxurious.

Fisker Karma, the world’s first premium plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), will be introduced to Calgary by the Dilawri Automotive Group on June 18.

The four-seat sedan boasts industry-leading economy and zero tailpipe emissions combined with world-class luxury and sportscar-like performance.

The PHEV has a total range of 483 km, 80 km of which are electric-only. The Lithium-ion battery can be fully recharged in as little as eight hours.

According to Jill Petrovic, marketing manager for the Dilawri Automotive Group, the Fisker Karma is the perfect blend of eco-conscious luxury, performance and innovation.

“As with every major industry, the automotive industry is constantly evolving and we’re excited to bring the concept of a beautifully crafted, zero emissions vehicle to the Calgary market.”

Initial customer deliveries are expected to begin in 2011. The Fisker Karma order bank already exceeds 1,600 vehicles.
