Bradley MacDonald shook off the rust quickly as the Halifax Mooseheads held their first intrasquad scrimmage last night at Cole Harbour Place.
The 18-year-old returning left-winger lined up with rookie centre Matthew Boudreau and sophomore right-winger Alex Lemieux and scored back-to-back second-period goals to help Team A to a 6-3 victory over Team B.
“I had the jitters going into ’er — it was a tough day of practice and training,” said MacDonald. “But I had two great linemates who play the same style as me and I got lucky to score two.”
Also highlighting the night were first-period shutouts from returning goalies Peter Delmas (Team A) and Mathieu Corbeil (Team B).
Rough-and-tumble returnee Garrett Clarke was among those setting a physical tone early, going for numerous big open-ice hits.
“Boys were hittin’ and running their mouths,” MacDonald said. “We’re all friends off the ice but everybody’s trying to make the team.”
