Residents of HRM are strongly behind a plebiscite on the idea of dividing municipality into two, a new poll shows.
The survey by Corporate Research Associates Inc. says 71 per cent of people surveyed would support holding a vote asking them whether or not to divide the HRM into two municipal units.

Twenty-six per cent opposed the idea.
The polling firm also says the majority of residents (54 per cent) support the division of HRM into two municipal units – one for rural residents and one for urban residents.
The survey conducted from Nov. 5 to 20 asked 401 adults residents and carries a margin or error of 4.9 percentage points.
