Make a stand for funding by taking a seat at Pumphouse Theatre

Take a seat for culture.

The stage has been set for a showdown between Pumphouse Theatre supporters and city council today as the theatre’s clique descends upon council chambers to plead for more funding for a future expansion, according to theatre executive director Scott McTavish.

“We’re hoping council will reconsider the committee decision that denied another $2 million in funding in April,” McTavish said.

McTavish expects about 100 or more supporters to show up at council for the theatre’s Take a Seat for Culture campaign.

“We know people are busy but even if they can come take a seat for 10 minutes and leave, that would be a great show of support,” he said.

Ald. Ric McIver hopes council can give the theatre enough money to make their plans known and said council can discuss the rest of the money later.
