New model goes on sale this spring

A redesigned Acura RL is headed your way, featuring revised exterior styling, an upgraded interior, advanced technologies and a powerful new engine. The 2009 RL will go on sale this spring at dealerships across Canada.

It features new advanced technologies such XM Note, Active Sound Control and Bluetooth Audio to an already robust list of features on the previous RL.

To enhance handling, new chassis technology abounds in the drivetrain with an improved Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, a revised steering system, upgraded coil springs, better performing shock absorbers, larger rear stabilizer bar, and more aggressive wheels and tires.

Performance is enhanced with a new, larger 3.7-litre V6 engine that delivers 300 horsepower when needed. To handle the higher power, a new version of the Sequential SportShift automatic transmission is matched to the V6, featuring new “smart” F1-style steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and a new straight-gate console-mounted gear selector.

“RL represents an elevated level of engineering, technology, performance and luxury,” said Jim Miller, executive vice-president, Honda Canada Inc.

“It’s designed for Canadians who are looking for an advanced performance-luxury sedan.”

For 2009, the RL will be offered in two trim levels — RL and RL Elite Package. The RL Elite Package features Active Front Lighting System (AFS), CMBS™ (Collision Mitigation Braking System™), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and genuine wood instrument panel trim.
