An adult male was airlifted to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with serious injuries after the vehicle he was driving flipped several times before landing on its side on Highway 101 yesterday morning.
Windsor RCMP say the accident took place around 7:30 a.m. between Exits 4 and 5 near St. Croix. Police say the male occupant of the vehicle crossed the highway onto the westbound shoulder striking two parked vehicles belonging to highway workers, neither of which was occupied.
“Obviously, we have some idea (to what caused it),” said RCMP spokesperson Cst. Les Kakonyi, who has ruled out alcohol as a factor. “It could be fatigue. It could be inattentiveness. We’re not 100 per cent sure at this stage.”
Police say the driver is believed to be in his 30s and has undetermined injuries. Highway 101 was closed for two hours because of the accident.
