Man allegedly exposes himself to woman and young daughter

Police are investigating an indecent act in the Upper Tantallon area after Halifax RCMP say a man exposed himself to a woman who was walking with her eight-year-old daughter.

Police say a 43-year-old woman and her daughter were on a walking trail where the bridge passes over Hammonds Plains Road close to Fox Hollow Drive at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. They passed a man who was sitting on his mountain bike a short distance back, but police say he then rode towards them and yelled at the woman if she had the time. The woman turned and that’s when police say the man exposed himself to her.

“She’s quite disturbed,” said Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin. “She’s walking with her eight-year-old daughter and then an incident like that takes place. It’s quite bothersome.”

The suspect fled the scene on his bike and police were then contacted.

“I don’t really recall too many incidents like that out in that area,” Taplin added. “It’s one of the first that I can recall.”

The suspect is described as five-foot-seven, slender with brown hair and a beard. The man was also wearing soccer shorts. Taplin estimated his age to be 20s or 30s.
