Man braves 3 days in tree for chance to win cash

He lived in a tree for three days, dodging hurled tomatoes, combating hallucinations and listening to screams in the night, all for a chance to win $40,000.

“I’m going to look like a yeti when I’m done,” Kirk Ryan said yesterday, perched on a branch of the tree he lived in for 72 hours.

The 19-year-old lifeguard climbed down at 7:40 yesterday morning, and earned a chance to win thousands in 100.3 The Bear’s Really Tough Contest.

This year’s contest is in its infancy, but organizers have already subjected one contestant to drinking a pint of his body’s own genuine draft.

Though Ryan said he wasn’t sure what he was agreeing to when he greenlighted his spot in the contest, he doesn’t have any regrets.

“I’ve got a few bruises on my hands, but I don’t care. People have come by just to look at me. I just tell them to have a good gawk,” he said with a laugh.

Last year, one contestant drank his own blood and another was sprayed in the face with bear mace. The winner was a woman who had been covered from head to toe in hickies.
