Police have laid three charges of attempted murder against a 22-year-old man following a shooting in downtown Halifax last summer.

The unidentified man is in custody in Springhill and will appear in a Halifax court at a later date.

The charges stem from a July 20 incident in which several shots were fired on Spring Garden Road.

There were no reports of injuries but a number of people were seen fleeing the area.

Following months of piecing together evidence, police say the investigating officer was able to identify and charge the suspect.

The man also faces several weapons-related charges.
