Man charged in west end stabbings

A 20-year-old Ottawa man now faces a slew of charges after a man and woman in their 40s were stabbed in their west-end home over the weekend.

Police said yesterday that they charged a man with two counts each of attempted murder, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and uttering death threats in addition to other charges following the “isolated” incident in which the victims and suspect were not known to each other.

On Saturday morning, a man and woman were stabbed at a home in the 1200 block of Rideout Cres. The woman is in critical but stable condition in hospital, while the man is in stable condition.

Following a brief car chase, a suspect ditched his car and fled into the bush. He was arrested after being tracked down by the K-9 unit.

Richard Keith Blake next appears in court Friday.
