A Halifax man was arrested for drunk driving Monday evening after a low-speed chase in the city’s downtown.

At about 8 p.m. a motorist called Halifax Regional Police to report he was following an impaired driver.

Police set up a traffic stop near Bell Road but they say the driver refused to stop and tried to evade police.

The driver was pursued at low speeds and eventually stopped near Normandy Street. No one was injured.

The man is facing charges of impaired driving, refusing a breathalyzer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.
