Father appearing in court after toddler stabbed
A 47-year-old Delta man will appear in court today charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his daughter, a toddler.
Rajvinder Kahlon, 2, was found dead at her family house just before 9 a.m. Friday morning. Her father, Lakhvinder Kahlon was arrested immediately and was charged Saturday with her death.
Delta Const. Paul Eisenzimmer called the incident a "terrible tragedy" one that has devastated the family and the community.
Police were called to the scene, a house in the 7800 Block of 116th Street in North Delta, after they received several 9-1-1 calls from people in the area.
Lakhvinder Kahlon and his wife Manjit have two older daughters. She was apparently walking the girls to school when the murder took place.
According to media reports, Lakhvinder Kahlon had called a friend only days before the murder, complaining that he had no son, only daughters.
Delta Police said Manjit Kahlon and her two surviving daughters are safe and in the care of extended family and friends. The event was isolated incident and there is no threat to the community, Eisenzimmer said.
