A man suffering from heat stroke collapsed into a ditch while running Friday.
Calgary paramedics say the 47-year-old man was participating in a 13-kilometre cross-country training exercise, carrying a heavy backpack, when he went down just before 11 a.m.
His teammates found him unconscious in a shallow ditch. He may have been there for between 10 and 20 minutes, paramedics say.
He was treated for severe dehydration and heat stroke. The man did not regain consciousness at arrival at hospital and was last listed in critical condition.
