The new owner of an apartment in Bussy-Saint-Georges, France, found more than just old furniture when he moved into his home on Friday: He also found the mummified body of the previous owner that had been hanging there with a bedsheet for eight years, reports France 24.
The man was around 40 years old at the time of his suicide. No one knew the man had been estranged from his family and his neighbors had assumed that he moved back to his home country of Cambodia. The man had been fired from his security officer job and he couldn't pay the mortgage on his home. The man kept to himself: Roger Kinn, president of the AKB Association, which represents around 5,000 Cambodian immigrants in Bussy-Saint-Georges told L'Express that no one knew him.
The bank repossessed the apartment and auctioned it off to its new owner. A police source told France 24/AFP that the new owner came to look at the apartment and opened the door with a locksmith when he found the corpse. The source said that the body and apartment were both mysteriously in perfect condition. Police told L'Express that the man had had OCD and was very fastidious about maintaining a clean apartment. Still, investigators could not explain why there was no smell and how the body had stayed so intact.

One neighbor told the news agency, "I thought it was an abandoned apartment. Bussy is a commuter suburb, people don't see each other much."
