Capilano River A 53-year-old North Vancouver man died yesterday after slipping on a rock and falling into Capilano River.
The RCMP said two men were fishing near the Capilano Fish Hatchery when one slipped while he was casting off.
“According to the witness the victim was able to tread water for about five minutes before he slipped under the surface,” said RCMP Cpl. Marlene Morton.
“Fire Services Rescue Crew went into the water where the victim had been last seen and were able to locate him laying on the river bed,” she said.
“Unfortunately (he) had been under water for close to an hour and had already passed away when brought to the surface.”
