Man dies in roofing accident

A 54-year-old Cape Breton man has died in a Halifax hospital after falling off staging set up to replace an aging roof.

A 54-year-old Cape Breton man has died in a Halifax hospital after falling off staging set up to replace an aging roof.

The accident happened Saturday at approximately 6 p.m. in Sydney Mines.

The Boularderie man was among a group of people helping to replace the roof of his mother’s house when he slipped on the staging, fell and struck his head on pavement.

Cape Breton Regional Police and Emergency Health Services responded to the accident. The man was been rushed to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with serious head injuries.
