Man drives wrong way on Highway 111

Two Halifax Regional Police cars received minor damage after trying tostop a car driven by an alleged impaired driver going down the wrongway on Highway 111 near Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth late Sunday evening.

Two Halifax Regional Police cars received minor damage after trying to stop a car driven by an alleged impaired driver going down the wrong way on Highway 111 near Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth late Sunday evening.

When police saw the vehicle and tried to pull it over at about 11:30 p.m., the car hit the rear bumper of one police car, and then rolled into a second one before stopping.

There were no injuries, and two males were taken into custody.

The adult male driver is facing charges of driving while impaired by a drug, dangerous driving, fleeing police, resisting arrest, breach of probation and possession of a weapon (pepper spray).

The adult male passenger is charged with possession of a weapon (pepper spray), possession of drugs and breach of probation.

Both will be arraigned Monday at Dartmouth Provincial Court.
