One man decided to permanently flip off his wife when he put a middle finger statue in his backyard. The punchline? The statue faces his ex-wife’s home: She is his next-door neighbor.

Alan Markovitz, 59, is a well-known character around Detroit, where he runs several strip clubs. The flashy businessman recently moved into his new home in Orchard Lake, Mich., and installed the sculpture soon afterward. The statue is 12 feet high, and Markovitz even keeps it lit at night. Markovitz spent $7,000 on the sculpture.

But Markovitz claims he didn’t erect the statue to offend his ex-wife: It’s all about her new lover. Markovitz claims that his ex-wife was dating her live-in boyfriend before their marriage ended. He told Deadline, “I’m so over her. This is about him. This is about him not being a man.” He claimed that it was simply a coincidence that he moved in next door to his ex-wife’s home.

The former Mrs. Markovitz’s daughter, Lenka Tuohy, posted a photo of the statue on Twitter. She also wrote, “How psychotic do you have to be to buy the house directly next to your ex wife and then put a statue up like that?!?! Real classy alan.”
