A 28-year-old man is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man Monday night in Sambro, police said.
Halifax Regional Police said officers arrested arrested a suspect at a Venus Drive home at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday. He’s also facing a number of firearms offences and was scheduled to answer to all charges in Halifax provincial court Tuesday afternoon.
Police said officers responded to the shooting outside a convenience store at 1 West Pennant Road just after 8 p.m. Monday. When they arrived on scene they found a 25-year-old man suffering from several gunshot wounds to his leg. The victim was rushed to Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Officers initially arrested another man at a traffic stop on Old Sambro Road shortly after the shooting occurred, police said, but he was released without charge and his car “was kept for forensic analysis.”
