Man faces charges following stabbing in Eastern Passage

A 30-year-old man will appear in Dartmouth provincial court today following a stabbing incident in Eastern Passage.

Halifax RCMP say they responded to an address on Fredericks Lane at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say a 31-year-old man had suffered a stab wound following an argument with another man. Both men were known to each other, police say.

“It was some type of altercation that started between the two,” said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin. “It started as a fight then they proceeded to the veranda porch outside where the suspect pulled knife and ended up stabbing the victim.”

Police say the suspect then fled the scene, but was eventually found nearby and arrested with the help of the canine unit.

Police say the victim was taken to hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Taplin didn’t know where the victim was stabbed.

The suspect faces charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breach of a recognizance.
