A Whitby man is facing 60 charges in connection with a rash of thefts from vehicles.

A Whitby man is facing 60 charges in connection with a rash of thefts from vehicles. Durham regional police say between early November and mid-December someone broke into dozens of parked vehicles in residential neighbourhoods in Whitby.

Most of the stolen property has now been returned to the owners.

Geoffrey Tyler, 28, of Whitby is charged with 28 counts of mischief under $5,000, 22 counts of theft under $5,000, six counts of possession of stolen property, three counts of breach of probation and one count of possession of break-in instruments.
