Man facing charges after RCMP find skull

A man has been charged in connection with the death of his former roommate after Surrey RCMP found a severed skull and identified it as belonging to a headless body found 19 kilometres away.

Mounties found the body at a Surrey home last August. According to Cpl. Dale Carr, mention of the missing head was strategically not made public as it was felt that only investigators and the person responsible would know about it.

“Information such as this is often held back from the media so that investigators have a barometer to use to check the truthfulness of a person’s statement,” Carr said.

The skull was discovered three months later and linked to the body, which was identified as that of Richard Falardeau, 54.

His former roommate, Ernest Allan Hosack, 37, is charged with second-degree murder.

“This investigation has no links to drugs, gangs or organized crime,” Carr said.
