Residents of a quiet suburban cul-de-sac on the northern fringe of Brampton have been left shaken after one of their neighbours was gunned down in his own home Saturday night.

Peel Regional Police were called to Wickstead Court, near Bramalea Road and Sandalwood Parkway East, at 10:44 p.m. and found the severely wounded victim, identified as Darren McLean, 23.

Emergency workers tried to revive the young man, but he was subsequently declared dead.

“It was a family member who found the victim,” said Const. Adam Minnion.

“I can’t really get into the actual relationship of the family member, but they are the ones who phoned us.”

There is no word on whether the family member was in the home when McLean was shot.

Police sealed off the crime scene and surrounding homes yesterday as members of the homicide bureau conducted their investigation.

Homicide investigators are looking for anyone who might have information about the murder, Peel’s fifth of the year.

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205.
