One man is dead and another in stable condition in hospital after they were stabbed near the 8th Street SW LRT station around 10:30 p.m. last night.
Both victims were in their early twenties and were with at least two other people when confronted by other group.
“We believe there is a third party and as a result of that we’ve been trying to put together the pieces of what happened last night,” said Insp. Guy Slater.
The violent altercation occurred between the two groups and the two victims are believed to be known to each other.
The police are unsure if there is more than one suspect, but video surveillance has been acquired.
Christi Brown, 26, has lived near the 8th Street station for almost two years and still does not feel a sense of security.
“As far as night goes, I don’t even want to go down to get my car,” she said.
Brown has noticed an increase of police presence in the area over the last year, but not a consistent one.
