Man nabbed facing $100K in motor fines

If your glove compartment is bursting with speeding tickets, you’ve still got nothing on this guy.

Halifax RCMP say a Beaver Bank area man, who owes nearly $100,000 in outstanding motor vehicle fines, was arrested in Lower Sackville yesterday.

Mounties say the 43-year-old man has more than 150 offences under the Nova Scotia motor vehicle act, including speeding, driving without insurance and driving while suspended.

Around 7:30 a.m. yesterday, police recognized a man driving on the Beaver Bank Road as the suspended driver, said police spokesman Cpl. Scott MacRae.

The man was arrested by police on the scene and his vehicle was seized, he said.

“He has actually told the police that he will continue to do it,” said MacRae, referring to the act of driving without a licence.
