Man seriously injured in late-night park stabbing

A 23-year-old is in serious but stable condition after being found stabbed in Queen Elizabeth Park early Sunday morning.

The stabbing – the city’s third in three days – likely took place between midnight and 2 a.m., according to Vancouver police Insp. Mike Cumberworth.

He said the victim was leaving his job at Seasons in the Park restaurant when he was attacked by two men.

“The reason for the attack is unknown. However, from what the investigators have pieced together, it does appear to have been targeted,” Cumberworth said.

Major crimes investigators were on the scene Sunday, combing through the brush looking for evidence.

The victim was not known to police.

The two other stabbings took place early Saturday morning.

Two men were taken to hospital after being attacked at a home in the 2500 block of East 45th Avenue.

Insp. Dean Robinson said a passerby noticed an injured man outside a home and called police.

A second stabbing victim was found inside the house.

Both men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspects have been identified in either case.
