Man shot dead while driving

A 23-year-old Langley man was shot to death Friday night while driving in Burnaby, becoming the Lower Mainland’s third shooting victim in three days.

Several shots were fired from a vehicle into the victim’s Porsche Cayenne as it was travelling in Burnaby in the 7000 block of Kingsway at about 10 p.m.

The victim lost control and crashed his SUV into the side of a furniture store.

The shooters then turned and fired at a second car following the first. The 17-year-old driver, a friend of the victim, suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The death was the third shooting fatality in the Lower Mainland in as many nights.

On Thursday, Abbotsford police heard shots fired and found a 40-year-old man dead on the front steps of a house in the 1400 block of Kipling Street.

The victim is suspected to have links to organized crime and the attack was likely targeted.

On Wednesday night, a 30-year-old Richmond man was shot and killed during a fight outside the Cecil Hotel in Vancouver. A second man, a 32-year-old from Surrey, was shot in the leg.
