A man is in critical condition after being shot in the city’s southeast early Monday morning.
Police are questioning people in the bizarre incident which led police to find the victim beside a car in the 200 block on Penbrooke Way SE with a gunshot wound.
Investigators believe the shooting was not gang-related but have determined it wasn’t a random attack, according to Acting Staff Sgt. Ron Ho of district 4.
“It’s too early to say if it’s (drug-related). We do believe there was an altercation some time before the incident took place,” Ho said, adding whether or not it was physical hasn’t been determined.
Two cars were led away by police and tow trucks where shattered glass and yellow police tape marked the area where the man was shot. He remains in hospital in critical condition. Police continue to investigate and are asking for information.
