Police say it appears to be an “unfortunate tragedy” a man was killed after being struck by a car backing out of a northwest driveway yesterday morning.
Distraught family members on scene identified the 68-year-old victim as David Lee and told reporters he was walking to the mailbox around 11 a.m. when he was struck in the 200 block of Hawkside Mews NW.
“I knew the man who died and I know the woman who struck him. This is so tragic, the whole community is going to take this very hard, we’re very close,” a neighbour identifying herself as Marsha said.
“He was a really nice, older man.”
The victim’s sister was visibly upset as she pulled up to the scene where Lee died.
