Police have arrested a 26-year-old Abbotsford man suspected of firing a bullet into a nearby house after getting into a fight with a cab driver.

The taxi driver told police the suspect had been damaging the car and they got into a fight Friday night, Sgt. James Bawtinheimer said.

When officers arrested the man they found a loaded handgun in his waistband.

“The investigation led members to a nearby house, where a bullet hole was located in the roof and a spent bullet was located inside, lying on the floor,” Bawtinheimer said.

No one was injured in the incident, Bawtinheimer said.

“(We believe) the incident was as a result of a dispute between several males and that a random shot was fired in an attempt to intimidate one of them.”

Bawtinheimer also added that the residents of the home appear to have been innocent victims of the crime.
