RAYMORE, MO – An American worker was swept more than a mile down a 27-inch sewer pipe, but emerged alive. Daniel Collins, 30, was working in a sewer near a golf course in Raymore, Missouri, when he somehow became unhooked from a safety line.

He was swept away by a tide of sewage and eventually emerged 90 minutes — and more than a mile away — at a manhole cover.

Rescuers said he was “not totally coherent” when they found him.
