Manitoba man faces 60 charges in alleged sex assaults on 11 boys near Winnipeg

HEADINGLEY, Man. – A 19-year-old Manitoba man faces 60 charges following an RCMP investigation into a complaint of children being sexually assaulted.

Sgt. Line Karpish said the 11 alleged victims are all boys between 8 and 14 years old. They live in the Rural Municipality of Cartier just west of Winnipeg.

“The charges revolve around sexual assaults that were ongoing between 2002 and July of this year,” Karpish said Wednesday.

The accused faces 21 counts of sexual assault, 19 counts of sexual interference, 11 counts of invitation to sexual touching, two counts of forcible confinement, five counts of administering a noxious substance, one count of juvenile prostitution and one count of indecent exposure.

RCMP are not identifying the man because some of the allegations are said to have happened when he was under 18. That means he cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police also won’t confirm exactly where the accused is from or where the alleged crimes took place.

He appeared in court earlier this week and is being held at the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre east of Winnipeg.

His next court date is not available.
