Marching to the beat of Christmas cheer

Michelle Levy has gone to the Spryfield Santa Claus Parade every one of her 16 years.

“I love the floats!” she said as she snapped photos of the parade going by yesterday.

Thousands of people stood in the late November sunshine to take in the 33rd annual parade which also happens to be the longest running Santa Claus Parade in Atlantic Canada.

Bernice Levy said she’s been coming every year since it started.

“I love the parade and I love the area,” she said, adding it makes her proud to live in Spryfield.
“There’s more floats each year and a lot more turnout.”

Santa was the main attraction of course, but there were people in costumes, dogs and even some llamas and donkeys in the parade.

It was the first Spryfield parade for Nancy Oldford’s 10-month-old son.

“He fell asleep at the Parade of Lights, so this one is better,” she said.
