Belleville’s Tyler Wilkinson stars with his brothers and sisters in the comedy/reality show, The Wilkinsons, which airs Wednesday nights on CMT. He is also the front man for the rock band Motion Picture Ending.
Q: What is your fondest memory from your family kitchen?
A: When my dad worked all day, my mom would surprise him by cooking dinner for the family. Unfortunately, she is not a very good cook. By the time my dad would come home, everything was burned or up in flames. The good news for the kids was he would take us out for dinner.
Q: What kitchen aromas bring back fond memories?
A: My dad always made spaghetti. When I smell anything with marinara sauce, I think of coming home.
Q: What is your favourite food to cook?
A: I love to make haddock and mussels in a bag.
Q: Do you use cookbooks?
A: Yes, all the time. I enjoy picking out new dishes to prepare. It keeps things interesting.
Q: How did the first meal you prepared turn out?
A: I think my first meal was cooking Kraft Diner. How can you mess that up?
Q: What kitchen gadget can¹t you live without?
A: Knives. I¹m pretty sure you could get around everything else, but try cutting chicken with a spoon. Not fun.
