The Yarmouth Mariners are Maritime Junior A Hockey League champions after wrapping up a six-game series victory over the Woodstock Slammers last night.

Cody Lefrancois scored the game-winner 7:26 into the third period to lift the Mariners to a 3-1 victory over the Slammers in Woodstock, N.B.

Former Halifax Mooseheads forward Justin Saulnier of Dartmouth netted a first-period goal, then delivered the knockout punch into an empty net with 91 seconds left.

Yarmouth joins the host Pictou County Crushers at the Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian championship starting Monday in New Glasgow.
