Fire jugglers, acrobats, fortunetellers and ventriloquists are just a few of the performers taking over the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood for this year’s Scotiabank BuskerFest.
This weekend, more than one million spectators are expected to gather to eat, drink, shop and watch more than 120 acts — magicians, contortionists and musicians from around the world.
From the Netherlands, Saurus — a troop performing as 18-foot-tall dinosaurs — will be wandering through the crowds. FlameOz from Australia will be mixing fire with acrobatic martial arts. Toronto’s own Suspended Animation will be performing its unique circus act suspended from a giant helium balloon over the festival crowds.
Now in its 11th year, BuskerFest supports Epilepsy Toronto by bringing awareness and education to visitors, while gathering donations to provide support to Torontonians living with epilepsy.
“Over the last 10 years, we have raised almost one million dollars for Epilepsy Toronto,” says Geoff Bobb, executive director of Epilepsy Toronto.
Epilepsy Toronto provides a variety of support groups, employment counseling and educational programs around the city.
