Marlies in deep hole after 5-4 overtime loss

Joakim Lindstrom’s goal 9:44 into overtime lifted the Syracuse Crunch to a 5-4 win over the Toronto Marlies in AHL playoff action last night.

The win gives the Crunch a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference North Division final.

Syracuse trailed 4-2 heading into the third period but scored twice in the final frame, including a power-play marker by Derick Brassard with 1:38 to play in regulation time.

Derrick Walser, John Mitchell, Kris Newbury and Jaime Sifers scored for the Marlies. Zenon Konopka, Tom Sestito and Derek MacKenzie added Syracuse markers.

The Marlies will host Game 5 tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Ricoh Coliseum.
