Firefighters are battling a massive inferno in the city’s southwest as a three-alarm fire engulfed an apartment complex Thursday afternoon and destroyed the fourth floor.
Crews arrived on scene at 12:45 p.m. at the multi-condo complex on the corner of Millrise Dr. just off of Macleod Trail SW as the smoke could be seen rising into the air from all corners of the city.
The entire building was immediately evacuated and residents on scene said firefighters responded instantly, even before the alarm went off. Other residents report there was no panic as the building residents filed out of the burning building. Fire officials say no one was injured in the blaze that has destroyed the entire top floor.
Fire crews continue to battle the fire and the scene remains chaotic with Calgarians watching from the streets. Emergency crews remain on scene.
