Mayoral race too close to call

Statistically, it’s a tie.

That’s how a new poll from Return on Insight has the mayoral race stacked up, with Barb Higgins and Ric McIver in a statistical dead heat — with Naheed Nenshi in third, but closing the gap.

The poll, claiming to be within 4.4 per cent accuracy, 19 times out of 20, shows McIver with 31 per cent, Higgins at 28 and Nenshi at 16 per cent, with undecided at 17 per cent.

Jeremy Zhao, former mayoral candidate and current calgarypolitics.com blogger, believes the trim in undecided voters compared with previous polls shows that the smoke is beginning to clear for Calgarians.

“People are coming to the realization that it’s down to Nenshi, Higgins and McIver, and they’re deciding which candidate is best for them,” said Zhao.

Zhao also did say that despite the surge by Nenshi, it might be too late for him to peak near the leaders.
