Mayors of major cities across Canada will be putting their heads together this week to figure out how they can help Canada bounce back from a difficult economic year.

HRM Mayor Peter Kelly will be among the delegates gathered in Ottawa this week for the annual Big City Mayors’ Caucus.

The meeting is designed to bring the municipal leaders together to talk about areas of common concern and “to present a strong, united voice on important municipal priorities,” said a release issued yesterday.

This year, the mayors are expected to focus on getting the federal government to continue to invest in urban infrastructure and green initiatives.

“HRM and cities across the country have shown that municipalities, with an appropriate level of support, can be innovative leaders in addressing climate change,” Kelly said in the release.

“When we invest in communities, we invest in Canada.”
