McGuinty’s view irrational

Re: "Premier says no to liquor in corner stores," Apr. 4:

Premier Dalton McGuinty’s stand to not allow convenience store owners to sell alcohol is irrational and strictly aimed at appeasing public outrage over the lottery ticket scandal while, in fact, one has nothing to do with the other.

Quebec’s corner stores and grocery stores have been selling beer and wine for well over 25 years without any problems. While you are at it, why not forbid corner store owners from selling cigarettes, too.

Your recent comments on the lottery scandal as a way to justify your stand against booze in corner stores is like comparing a few bad apples with oranges, Mr. Premier.
