Just a few months after dominating the 2010 Paralympics, skier Lauren Woolstencroft has decided to retire.
The 28-year-old from North Vancouver won five gold medals at the Vancouver Games.
“Winning all five events was beyond my expectations,” she said. “To do it at a home Games, in front of friends and family, was way more than I can ever describe.
“That was the pinnacle.”
Only 28, Woolstencroft debated racing until the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.
“There is part of me that thought about keeping going,” she said.
“I am skiing well. It’s not like I’m over the hill and washed up.”
