Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk has fired back at Jim Balsillie for arguments he made during legal wrangling over Balsillie’s attempt to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes.
In a recent court filing, Balsillie’s legal team argued that moral grounds and questions of character are not grounds for denying someone ownership of a franchise.
In a public statement aimed directly at the Research In Motion co-CEO, Melnyk stated that Balsillie’s conduct towards the league and other owners has led him to conclude that, “the sport of hockey is better off without him.”
