Ottawa Senators assistant coach Luke Richardson and his family are hosting a public celebration of life service for his daughter, Daron Richardson at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A Sens statement said Daron hanged herself in the family’s home over the weekend and died in hospital Saturday. She was 14.
Richardson is a former NHLer who finished his playing career as an Ottawa Senator in 2008.
The service will be held on the arena floor of Scotiabank Place, followed by a reception. Guests are asked to enter Scotiabank Place via Gate 1 or Gate 2.
Friends of the Richardsons travelling from outside the National Capital Region and larger groups coming in buses are asked to email Senators director of player services Chad Schella at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The family is asking that donations be made to the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health - Youth Program, in lieu of flowers.
