Men’s super-G World Cup race cancelled

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany – Thick fog forced organizers to cancel a men’s super-G World Cup race on Sunday.

The top part of the Kandahar course was shrouded in fog that did not move although the organizers delayed the start three times.

On Saturday, the downhill won by Didier Cuche of Switzerland had to be significantly shortened because of fog.

It was the second straight super-G to be cancelled. The race in Kitzbuehel, Austria, was called off last week because of rain and snow.

There was no immediate decision on the rescheduling of the race.
