The number of people reading Metro Halifax is growing by leaps and bounds.

The Newspaper Audience Databank (NADbank) released its 2009-10 survey results yesterday and it shows a 20 per cent increase in daily readership and 14 per cent jump for those reading Metro Halifax weekly.

“A 20 per cent increase is fantastic news,” said Metro Halifax publisher Greg Lutes.

“It is very gratifying to see the readership results reflect Metro’s growing circulation within HRM.”

Number wise, 56,700 people in the census metro area read Metro Halifax daily, an increase of 9,300 people from NADbank’s 2008-09 survey. Weekly readership stands at 149,500, up 18,000, to give Metro Halifax a market penetration of 45 per cent.
