Half a million strong, every day: Metro Toronto’s readership has continued to grow, according to results released yesterday by the Newspaper Audience Databank (NADbank).

The 2009 survey indicated Metro Toronto has topped half a million daily readers and has more than one million weekly readers in the area including Whitby and Oshawa — that’s the highest percentage growth of any daily newspaper in Toronto. Metro’s readership in the Toronto census metropolitan area increased by eight per cent to 485,900 daily readers.

The NADbank survey also found that Metro reaches more readers in the city of Toronto than the Sun and 24 Hours combined. City of Toronto readership increased to 359,900 from 330,700 daily readers.

Nationally, Metro Canada now reaches 1,293,100 daily and 2,764,500 weekly readers from coast to coast.
